DES SERIES: DES13X2
I programmed a specialized drawing program that allowed users to design 16x16-pixel images. Then, the software, which I called “The Symmetry Drawing Program,” would generate seven additional versions based on simple reflection and rotation transformations. Finally, one could designate and arrange multiple copies of these eight images to create a larger final image. This process is similar to the method used to craft detailed geometric-patterned floors. Because users of the program had the option to overlay and/or invert intersecting tiles, I found that I could go beyond static repeating images to produce landscapes, face-like images, and more complex abstract spaces.
