Larva Labs

Larva Labs is a software development studio founded by Matt Hall and John Watkinson, based in Canada. The pair began their careers writing apps for the T-Mobile Sidekick and later shifted to mobile development, publishing over twenty applications. Larva Labs pioneered the combination of art and blockchain with the iconic projects Autoglyphs and Cryptopunks.

Autoglyphs is one of the first examples of on-chain generative art. The project drew inspiration from Sol LeWitt’s wall drawings, with their randomly determined lines and geometric forms. In 2017, Larva Labs created Cryptopunks—10,000 unique 24×24 pixel icons on Ethereum.
