Garden, Monoliths #156

Le Random Logo

Garden, Monoliths is the genesis long-form series from generative forestry master, Michaël Zancan. The series is built upon the iconic “grass.js” algorithm that he has developed since April 2021. His goal was to use mathematical formulas to create plottable patterns inspired by the density of nature. The collection has become a staple within the fx(hash) community, garnering wide-spread appreciation from it's collectors and artists.

Garden, Monoliths #156 is the rarest piece from the series with its pink paper and theme traits. The piece has been nicknamed the “Holy Mother of Generative Plants on Pink Paper” by Zancan himself.

Description

"Garden, Monoliths" is the result of an algorithm that started in April 2021. It was called "Grass.js".

Spring was blooming all around the house, taking over the stones and remnants of ancient battles that stood here. Inspiration was everywhere.

The initial goal was to use mathematical formulas for creating patterns inspired by the density of nature, that could be used by a pen plotter, so it kept focusing on outputting vector lines. This history and practice produced a graphical style based on line strokes, plus occasionally some transparent, filled shapes.

Each artwork will be either "Garden" or "Monolith", for they are variations of two existing designs from the workshop.

Each generative image allows for downloading a SVG file of the line art, ready for plotters -> just press 's' key in live mode when the computing has completed.

The "Format" feature tells you what machine size and paper size you would need, if you were willing to give it a try. A warning though, some of the SVGs can be tricky, servo-killers.<3
